Traveler is played from a unique bird’s eye view. the environment is 2D based but the characters and some of the backgrounds were created in 3D to provide a more realistic feeling.
The main influence to the games comes from the good old arcade games of the early 90′, such as Gauntlet and to some extent, also from the more demanding PC games such as Civilization, Baldur’s Gate and their equivalents.
I’ve always been a fan of top view games. I think it started with the good old Civ where you get to play a sort of god role, seeing everything from above and controlling your little players. however, I’ve decided not to use the popular isometric view since I do not like it that much. So, I’ve ended building the game from the view point I’d best like to watch it from – a little from above and looking at the players strait in the faces 😆
